Phase 1 – company registration in Slovenia

In order to engage in business immigration for yourself and other foreign staff, the first phase to initiate it is company registration. Here you have various options, depending on your previous business experience. You can decide to open a limited liability company in Slovenia. Any natural person can open it with 7500€ share capital. Also, you can decide to open a branch office or a daughter company if you plan on expanding you existing business. All three company types give you the possibility to proceed to the next stage of business immigration to Slovenia.

Phase 2 – active business conduct

In order for any Slovenian company to be able to employ foreigners it has to fulfill active business conduct. The Slovenian legislation describes active business conduct in three possible ways:

  • investment to fixed assets in the amount of at least 50.000€,
  • or employing an EU citizen for 6 months,
  • or showing 10.000€ revenue for 6 consecutive months.

As soon as a company fulfills one of these conditions, you can proceed to the next phase.

Phase 3 – application for work and residence permit

Once one of the conditions is fulfilled, the company can start employing foreigners. The representative of the company can apply for the work and residence permit immediately. But if the company wants to hire additional foreign staff, they have to go through another phase. That phase is called labor market control. If they pass it, they can also apply for the work and residence permit in Slovenia.
