Business immigration to Slovenia – what is required?

If you plan to engage in business immigration to Slovenia, you firstly need to open a company here. Non-EU citizens can register an LTD company in Slovenia with 7500€ share capital. After the company is officially registered, there are three ways through which you can apply for work and residence permit, so investment opportunities are not the only option.

In order to engage in business immigration your company has to fulfill one of the following conditions:

  • invest minimally 50.000€ into fixed assets of the company,
  • or employing an EU citizen for 6 months on full-time salary,
  • or showing 10.000€ monthly revenue each month for 6 consecutive months.

When the company fulfills one of the conditions, it becomes eligible to employ foreigners.

If you decide on the 50.000€ investment option, what are the investment opportunities?

The 50.000€ investment is a popular choice amongst entrepreneurs to engage in business immigration to Slovenia. Within the company, the investment has to be done in fixed assets. This is a tangible item that your company needs to do business. Depending on the company type, the investment opportunities span from real estate, car, equipment.

For example, if you will be opening a company doing long-term or short-term rent in Slovenia, you can buy real estate as an investment opportunity. In companies that provide international transportation, purchasing cargo trucks is an investment opportunity.

If you will engage in restaurant business, buying kitchen or dining equipment, or restaurant premises can be such an investment. IT companies can invest in servers or computer equipment, while trading or import companies have the investment opportunity to buy warehouses.

In the majority of business activity, buying commercial real estate, like property, can be an investment to fixed assets.

When doing the investment, it is important that you keep in mind that the accumulated sum of the items you buy is at least 50.000€. You also have to make the investment within the first 6 months from company registration.
