Business immigration is a term for relocation to another country based on company registration. Each country has its own specifics regarding the procedure of business immigration but Slovenia has one of the most straight-forward terms. The procedure itself comprises of several steps and each of them has specific institutions involved in the process.

Institutions handling company registration in Slovenia, EU

Business immigration starts with company registration in Slovenia. Non-EU citizens can register an LTD company with 7500€ share capital, Slovenian tax numbers and a business address in Slovenia. The institution that is involved with company registration is the district court. It will be the district court in the city where the company has its business address.

But you do not have to visit the court to register the company. You can register an LTD company free of charge in any VEM point in Slovenia. The consultants there will prepare the documentation and send it to court. Data d.o.o. is among the licensed VEM points and we would be happy to assist you with company registration.

After company registration, your accountants will work closely with institutions like the Slovenian Financial Administration (FURS) and Agency for Public Legal Records (AJPES) to submit your company’s reports.

What institutions will be handling your application for business immigration?

After you have registered the company, the company will have to fulfill one of the conditions below in order for you to be eligible for business immigration:

• investment into the company’s fixed assets 50.000€,
• or employing an EU citizen for 6 months on full-time,
• or showing company revenue 10.000€/month for 6 consecutive months.

Once you have fulfilled one of these conditions, you can apply for your work and residence permit. The institution where you would submit the application is the Slovenian embassy in your country of citizenship or residence.

The embassy will register your application and then send it to Slovenian institutions for review. The institutions in Slovenia reviewing your application would be the administrative unit in your city of foreseen residence and the Slovenian employment office (ZRSZ).

If both those institutions would issue consent for your permit and the embassy also has no objections, they will send the issued work and residence permit back to the Slovenian embassy where you submitted your application. When you pick up your permit, you need to travel to Slovenia and register your personal address at any administrative unit.

In order to be employed in your company, you would also have to enroll to Slovenian social security. You can do the procedure at our VEM point. After submitting the application for enrolling into social security, the Slovenian Insurance office (ZZZS) will issue the confirmation of enrollment to social security.
