1st stage of business immigration to Slovenia – company registration
As business immigration means relocating to a country to support your business, the first stage is to register the company. Non-EU citizens can open the LTD company. This company type requires 7500€ share capital. It has to have at least 1 shareholder and 1 director. Additionally, you would need to present Slovenian tax numbers for all shareholders and representatives. You would need to visit Slovenia for company registration and opening the bank account. At this stage, your company would also require a business address and you would need to prepare an act of establishment. Our office is a licensed VEM point where our consultants will be happy to prepare the act of establishment and consult you on which business activities from the SKD you need to register to do your business legally.
With the act of establishment, you would open the temporary bank account and deposit 7500€. Within 3-5 business days from depositing the capital, the court issue a decree of company registration. At this stage you only transform the temporary bank account to permanent and have an active company.
2nd stage of business immigration to Slovenia – fulfilling the conditions of active business conduct
After the company registration you would need to fulfill a condition with which you prove active business conduct or at least the intent.
The conditions are:
- investing 50.000€ into fixed assets of the company,
- or employing an EU citizen for 6 months and paying them salary,
- or showing 10.000€ monthly revenue for 6 consecutive months.
You do not need to fulfill all conditions only one. Within the stages, the 2nd and 3rd condition require 6 months to fulfill, while the investment is the fastest option of the three
Applying for the work and residence permit
After the abovementioned stages are complete, you will have to apply for work and residence permit. Usually, you submit the application at the Slovenian embassy in your country of citizenship. If your country does not have Slovenian embassy, you would need to travel to the closest country which has Slovenian embassy. In case you have a valid residence permit in another country and that country has Slovenian embassy, you can also submit the application there.
At this stage, the review process of your application takes roughly 3 months to complete. When the application is reviewed and there is no dispute to issue the permit, the Slovenian authorities send the permit to the embassy. You can collect it there and relocate to Slovenia to start overseeing your business directly.
