The Statistical Office of Slovenia has prepared an evaluation of economic activity in Slovenia. In comparison to the previous year, the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) has been estimated at 4.1%.

Slovenia experienced 4.1% economic growth in 2018
The Statistical Office of Slovenia (SURS) has gathered all relevant information and estimated the GDP to range at 45.755 million EUR. That is nominally 6.4% more than in 2017, but after excluding certain influences regarding price changes, the growth amounts to 4.1%.
In 2018, all expenditure components of the GDP were higher
In comparison to 2017, there has been a growth in export by 6.6% and growth of import by 7.7%. Household consumption increased by 3.4%, mostly due to spending for transportation and other services.
The amount of gross investments to fixed assets has increased by 9.4%, mostly by investing in equipment and vehicles. Also, investments in real estate have increased by 11.5%. Hence, gross investments into fixed assets made up 19.2% of the gross domestic product.
There was a growth of added value in the majority of business activities
The majority of business activities have contributed to the 4.1% growth of the GDP by creating added value. The business activity that contributed the most was manufacturing (0.7%), followed by trading, car repairing and servicing (both at 0.6%), construction (0.4%) and transportation and storage (0.4%)
Total employment surpassed 1 million people
In comparison of 2018, the number of employed people increased by 3.3%. It is estimated that 1.020.719 persons are either employed or self-employed in Slovenia.
