This year Slovenian National Assembly adopted the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Foreigners called Aliens Act. The changes and novelties will enter into force on 1.1.2015.
The goals of mentioned changes are focused mainly on elimination of administrative barriers, shortening deadlines for procedures, introduction of a single procedure etc.
One of the important novelties is also re-introduction of the one-year legal residence in the Republic of Slovenia as a condition for obtaining the right of family reunification. This means that applicants must have 1 year of arranged status (employment) in Slovenia to submit the application for temporal residence permit for closest family members based on family reunification.
Despite the new provision, that your closest family members can apply for temporal residence permit after 1 year of arranged status, you can use this time to prepare everything for the arrival of your family to Slovenia (select appropriate school and kindergarten for your children, find suitable apartment for living, start your business in Slovenia and EU to have sufficient financial means etc.).
