The first step for relocation based on business is to establish a company. If you are a new entrepreneur, you can open a LTD company. It requires founding capital 7.500€, a business address in Slovenia and Slovenian tax numbers for all shareholders and representatives. You would also need to come to Slovenia for around 2 weeks to finalize the company registration process.
If you already have an existing company abroad you can open either a subsidiary or a branch office of your existing company.
A subsidiary is also an LTD company, where the shareholder is another legal entity. It also requires 7.500€ founding capital, Slovenian tax numbers for the representatives and the foreign company and a business address in Slovenia. For this company type, you also have to come to Slovenia for about 2 weeks in order to open the company.
A branch office is not a separate legal entity but a part of your existing company. It does not require founding capital but is also not independent from the parent company. To establish it, you do not need to come to Slovenia. Company registration proceeds at the notary and can be done based on power of attorney. From the parent company, you need to submit the following documents: financial report for the previous year, act of establishment and extract from the business registry. When you submit the documents to the notary, it is usually registered within 2 weeks.

Relocation to Slovenia based on company establishment – what conditions do you have to fulfill?
Only establishing a company is not enough for relocation to Slovenia. The company has to fulfill one of the following conditions:
- Investing 50.000€ into fixed assets of the company
- Having one EU citizen employed in the company on full-time for a period of 6 months
- Showing company turnover 10.000€/month for 6 consecutive months.
Once one of these conditions is fulfilled, you can apply for your work and residence permit and start your relocation to Slovenia.
