Mandatory components for an invoice in Slovenia

Mandatory components of the invoice are:

  • name, address and tax number of the issuer of the invoice,
  • name, address and tax number of the recipient of the invoice,
  • the quantity and type of goods supplied or the scope and type of services provided,
  • also invoice date,
  • serial number of the invoice (mark the first invoice of the year with the number 1, and then mark it in order until December)
  • the quantity and type of goods supplied or the scope and type of services provided,
  • the date on which you performed the service or shipped / delivered the goods,
  • the registration authority with which the company is registered,
  • the tax base on which VAT is levied
  • the VAT rate applied (22% – most often or 9.5% – for certain other products),
  • also the amount with VAT,
  • in the case of VAT exemptions, the applicable exemption provision

Fines for incorrectly issued invoices in Slovenia

The Financial Administration may fine a legal entity from 1.200 to 15.000 EUR if it states incomplete, incorrect or untrue information or information that is contrary to the law. The Financial Administration may also penalize you if the legal entity does not report to the tax authority on goods supplies or does not charge VAT when the liability arises VAT calculation.

The fine also increases from 3.200 EUR to 30.000 EUR if the legal person is considered a medium-sized or large company under the Companies Act.
