International transport license is issued by the European Community for the transport. Therefore transport license is mandatory for all companies performing transport activities.
To register a LTD company you need to have a share capital. What kind of money are we talking about? It depends on what kind of vehicles you intend to use.
From 21st of May, for vehicles up to 2,5 tons in weight, you need 7500,00 euro of share capital. For vehicles which weigh more than 2,5 tons, your share capital has to be 9000,00 euro for first and 5000,00 euro for every next vehicle. Transport manager and obtaining a transport license
A transport manager will need to be employed in transport company. Therefore, professional competence is checked in the knowledge test. The test differs on types of transport. Transport manager can get the certificate from any EU state. Therefore such an exam is recognised in Slovenia.
In case you are operating with vehicles up to 2,5 tons, you actually don’t need it. But if you plan to use vehicles heavier than that, you do, and here are the conditions you need to meet to get it:
- your Slovenian company has to register at least one vehicle;
- your office has to be at least 10 square meters in size if you have up to 4 vehicles;
- one of your employes or CEO has to have an EU transport manager certificate;

Driver ‘s profession and CODE 95
The transport company offers a lot of opportunities to the entrepreneur. To become a professional truck driver you must pass an exam for category C (C1, C1E, C or CE). And category D (D1, D1E, D or DE) as well. In addition, you must have CODE 95 entered in your driver’s license. The law in Slovenia that covers says that all new drivers must obtain CODE 95. What is CODE 95 ? This means that new drivers must pass an exam before the state commission for road transport. CODE 95 then inputs in the driver’s license and is valid for 5 years. It is extended based on regular trainings.
