Conditions of business immigration to Slovenia, EU

If you are an entrepreneur and are considering business immigration to Europe, one of the possibilities to relocate to Slovenia is by establishing your own company. In this article, we will explain the conditions you need to fulfill to apply for business immigration to Slovenia.

Conditions of business immigration to Slovenia – establishing a company in Slovenia

When relocating to Europe, your reason to do so is most likely to oversee your business in Slovenia in person. So, the first step which you would have to take is to establish a company in Slovenia.

The company registration process in Slovenia is very straight-forward. It takes about 10 to 14 days to accomplish and would require your physical presence in Slovenia. Firstly, you would need to obtain a Slovenian tax number for all shareholders and representatives. Secondly, you would need to bring with you the founding capital 7.500 €. Also, you would need a business address, where you would register your company address in Slovenia.

Once you have all documents, you would have to come to Slovenia to make the company registration. After making the act of establishment, you would need to go to the bank to open a temporary bank account. There you would deposit the founding capital. In 3-5 business days from depositing the capital, the company is registered and you would have to change the temporary bank account to permanent. With that the company registration is finished. But only establishing a company in Slovenia does not give you a right to apply for a work and residence permit automatically. The company would have to fulfill one of the conditions which we will list below in order to employ non-EU foreigners.

Conditions of business immigration to Slovenia – investment of 50.000 € to fixed assets

The first possibility you have is to invest to the company’s fixed assets in the amount of 50.000 €. You can make this investment immediately after company establishment.  Therefore, it is the fastest way for you to apply for the work and residence permit. Your company has to do the investment in the scope of your company’s business activities. This means that the company has to buy something it needs for business conduct. There is no general item which one could list to fulfill this condition as it depends what your company’s registered business activities would be. Usually the purchase is either real estate, company car or equipment but it can also be other items, if your business activity allows it. Once you make the purchase and the items are in your company’s possession, you can apply for the work and residence permit.

Conditions of business immigration to Slovenia – employing an EU citizen for 6 months

If the condition of investment does not appeal to you, you can also opt to fulfill one of the other conditions. The second possibility is to employ an EU citizen for a period of at least 6 months for full-time. This means that as soon as your company is registered, you can employ a person and start paying him salary. Once the person is employed in your company for 6 months, you can apply for your work and residence permit.

Conditions of business immigration to Slovenia – having company turnover 10.000 € for 6 months

If you plan on fully starting your business immediately after you have registered it, there is a possibility to apply for the work and residence permit by having a certain amount of company turnover. Your company has to generate at least 10.000 € turnover each month for 6 consecutive months. This means that you would have to issue invoices to clients in that amount and the clients would pay the invoices in the amount of at least 10.000 € each month. They do not look at an average amount over the course of 6 months so it is important that the amount is at least 10.000 € each month. Once the company fulfills one of these conditions, the representative can apply for the work and residence permit.
