Opening a translation agency in Slovenia, EU
If you plan on offering your services as a translator and opening your own company, we have good news. Translation is not a regulated business activity and you can offer your services as translator without obtaining additional licenses. If you do not plan to be a court certified translator but just offer regular translation services to natural persons or legal entities, you can do so without applying for any permits within the government.
It is sufficient that you are fluent in two languages – usually your mother tongue and an additional one (it can be English, as one of the most common languages spoken throughout the world).
But in order to provide your services as a business activity, you have to register a company first.
Foreigners can register an LTD company with 7.500€ founding capital. Additionally, you would need a Slovenian tax for all shareholders and representatives and a business address in Slovenia. You would also need to come to Slovenia and register your company. The business activity you would need to register is Translation under the SKD code 74.300.
