Is it possible to obtain a residence permit on the basis of the branch office?

In order to be eligible to apply for a residence permit for the director of branch office, your branch office should show that it actively runs a business – it must fulfill one of the following conditions:

• make investments in fixed assets in the amount of 50.000 euros or
• employ the employee to full-time (40 hours per week) for 6 months or
• show the monthly income from the company activity in the amount of 10.000 euros for the last 6 months.

The procedure of registration of a branch office is done at the notary. The activities of the branch office must be the same as in parent company. To register a branch office, parent company and a future director need to obtain Slovenian tax number. When registering a branch office, parent company must also prepare balance sheet for the last business year, copy from a register, founding act.

When establishing a branch office there is no need to put a founding capital. Once branch appears in the register, permanent account of the company can be opened.

Based on the establishment of a branch office, you can start the procedure of obtaining unique permit in Slovenia. Unique permit contains work permit and residence permit in one document.

As soon as the director of the branch office obtains a status in Slovenia, you can start the procedure for employment of foreign professionals in the branch office and obtain a unique permit for them.
