Live in Slovenia through business immigration – first step: open a company
In order to be able to live in Slovenia, the first step would be to open a company. What company type you open, depends on your previous business experience. The simplest company type to open is limited liability company (LTD) as a natural person. For that you only need 7500€ share capital, a Slovenian tax number and a business address in Slovenia. At DATA, we can guide you through the whole process as we are a licensed VEM point.
Experienced entrepreneurs can also decide to open a branch office or a subsidiary. The main difference between them is that branch office requires no share capital because it is not a separate legal entity. A subsidiary, however, is an independent legal entity and hence also a limited liability company with 7500€ share capital. But here, the owner is a foreign legal entity not a natural person.
All three company types have to abide by the same regulation if they want to employ the representative in order for them to live in Slovenia.

Live in Slovenia through business immigration – conditions for employing the representative
The representative of the company cannot live in Slovenia just by opening a company here. Each company that wants to employ foreigners in Slovenia, has to fulfill one of the conditions of active business conduct. What is active business conduct? It can mean one of the three following possibilities:
- invest 50.000€ into fixed assets of the company,
- or employing an EU citizen for 6 months and paying them salary,
- or 10.000€ monthly revenue each month for 6 consecutive months.
In order to apply for the residence permit and live in Slovenia, your company only needs to fulfill one of these conditions. Once your company fulfills it, you can submit your application which takes 2-3 months to be reviewed. The issued permit would allow you to live in Slovenia and work in your company.
Fulfilling those conditions would also enable you to employ other non-EU staff.
