Recently, an interview with our business consultant, Alja Arko, aired on the Slovenian radio station – Radio Slovenia International. She and the journalist, Chris Wherry, discussed the possibilities that foreigners have when doing business in Slovenia.

In the interview, Alja Arko and Chris Wherry talked about all the different company types that foreigners establish in Slovenia. The most popular choices are establishing a new LTD, a subsidiary and a branch office. They also discussed the business activities foreigners choose when they are doing business in Europe and Slovenia. Those activities include transportation services, consultancy, tourism, and accommodation-related services.

The interview also covered the possibilities that foreigners have when it comes to business immigration to Slovenia. Non-EU citizen need to obtain a residence permit before being able to live and work in Slovenia. Hence, they also touched the subject of what Slovenia can offer in regards to business immigration.

One of the topics of the interview was also what benefits of Slovenia that foreigners point out. Slovenia offers a stable economic environment which is an important factor when choosing to start a business in a foreign country. Foreigners also tend to point out the beautiful and peaceful environment that Slovenia offers for living here in addition to doing business.
What they saw as a disadvantage was mostly the reluctance of the banks when it comes to opening a bank account for a company owned by foreigners.

The interview also covered the services that the company Data offers to foreigners. The company specializes in helping foreigners to open a company in Slovenia. Data also offers support with accountancy and tax consultation.
In the last year, Data expanded its legal department so that it can offer support to local and foreign entrepreneurs with both understanding the legislation and preparing contracts for the company.
