What is corporate income tax?

A corporate tax, also called corporation tax or company tax, is a direct tax imposed by a jurisdiction on the income or capital of corporations or analogous legal entities. Many countries impose such taxes at the national level, and a similar tax may be imposed at state or local levels.

What are the corporate income tax rates in Europe?

As of January 2020 and Brexit, there are 27 member states in the EU. France has the highest statutory corporate income tax rate among EU countries, at 32%. Portugal and Germany follow, at 31.5 % and 29.9 %, respectively. Hungary (9%), Ireland (12.5 %), and Lithuania (15 %) have the lowest corporate income tax rates. But where does Slovenia stand in this picture?

Corporate income tax in Slovenia is 19%

Slovenia has a corporate income tax rate at 19%. This is below the EU average which is 21.9%. Among its neighboring countries, only Hungary has a lower corporate income tax rate, whereas Italy has a whopping 27.8% rate.
