Are you looking into the possibility for business immigration to Slovenia and decided to open a company? In this article we will present to you the types of investment you could make in order to obtain a work and residence permit by establishing a company in Slovenia.
Types of investment for business immigration to Slovenia – opening a company
Bear in mind that you can only make an investment to obtain a work and residence permit through the company. This means that you cannot make the purchase as a natural person and expect to obtain the work and residence permit. The first step would be to open a company in Slovenia.
To open a company in Slovenia, all shareholders and representatives have to come to Slovenia. Also, all shareholders and directors need to obtain a Slovenian tax number. You can go to the Slovenian tax office yourself. It is also possible that someone else can obtain it for you based on power of attorney.
In addition to the tax number, you would have to bring with you the founding capital and the statement from the owner of the space, where your company will have a business address in Slovenia. Then you can make the act of establishment at one of the one-stop shops (VEM/SPOT points) in Slovenia. Afterwards, you would have to go to the bank to open the temporary bank account and deposit the founding capital. In 3-5 business days after depositing the founding capital, the court issues the decree about company registration. After receiving it, the representative has to go to the bank to change the temporary bank account to permanent. With this, the company registration process is complete and you can proceed to choosing the types of investment for business immigration.
Types of investment for business immigration to Slovenia – process of investment
After company registration you have to make the investment to fixed assets in at least 6 months from company registration. Making the investment within those 6 months, would give you the right to apply for a work and residence permit. Also, if you are applying based on investment, you would also have to submit the application for the work and residence permit within the 6 months from company registration.
The types of investment you choose depend on the company’s registered business activity. It means that there is no general answer to what types of investment are eligible. For example, in one company the purchase of a truck can be considered an investment to fixed assets, if the company’s business activity is international transportation. But if the company’s business activity is business consulting, purchasing a truck would not be considered an investment to fixed assts.
The most general types of investment, which companies with less specific business activities can take advantage of are usually purchasing real-estate (commercial or residential), purchasing of a company car, purchasing equipment for office. In more specific business activities, the types of investment are broader, such as equipment for kitchen and dining area (in case of opening a restaurant), purchasing truck (in case of opening a transport company), equipment for factory (if you would be engaged in production of some sorts), etc.
It is also important that the final sum of the investment to fixed assets is not lower than 50.000 €
