The deadline for registration of beneficial owners is 19.1.2018. If you haven’t done it yet, we recommend you to do it as soon as possible.
You can register beneficial owners through the web application of AJPES with a qualified digital certificate. By the end of last week, only 13,8% of all taxpayers have done it, they reported from AJPES. Therefore, 15.312 beneficial owners were registered in the register.

Who has to register beneficial owners?
Firstly, it is good to know who has to register beneficial owners.
All legal entities registered in the Business Register of Slovenia must be registered in the Register of beneficial owners, with some exceptions.
The obligation to register the beneficial owner applies to all business entities, except for:
- sole traders
- individual, who carry out an activity independently
- single-member company with limited liability, when the owner is natural person
- direct and indirect budget users
Who is beneficial owner?
In accordance with the provisions of the Act, the beneficial owner is any natural person who is ultimate owner of the client or monitor or otherwise controls the business entity, or any natural person on whose behalf the transaction is carried out. The Act below defines more detailed criteria for determining the actual owner.
What about the fines?
In accordance with the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act, on the basis of which the register was created, you have to communicate all changes relating to the beneficial owners within eight days.
If you Will not do the registration, you may pay a fine. For legal enitities the fine is from 6.000 to 60.000 eur and from 400 to 2.000 eur for responsible persons of legal entities.
