Subsistence allowance abroad and in Slovenia in 2021: how is it regulated?

Pursuant to the Decree on the amount of refund of work-related expenses and other income, the employee has also a right to a daily allowance, which you calculate in accordance with the length of the trip, accommodation and breakfast.

Subsistence allowance abroad and in Slovenia is always given for the entire time of the trip. You calculate it in hours, ie from the day and hour of the start of the trip to the day and time when it is complete. From the total number of travel hours, the number of full daily allowances is calculated (for each 24 hours of travel). For the remaining hours, the daily allowance is calculated from 12 to 24 hours, from 8 to 12 hours or from 6 to 8 hours.

What is the value of the daily subsistence allowance in Slovenia in 2021?

The value of the subsistence allowance in Slovenia depends on the length of the trip as well as whether the accommodation costs include breakfast.

Length of trip:

  • over 12 and up to 24 hours: the allowance amounts to 21,39 EUR. It is 19,25 EUR if the accommodation costs also include breakfast,
  • over 8 and up to 12 hours: the allowance amounts to 10,68 EUR. It is 9,08 EUR if the accommodation costs also include breakfast,
  • and over 6 and up to 8 hours: the allowance amounts to 7,45 EUR.

For business trips in 2021, it is also necessary to take into account the amount of subsistence allowance, as stated below. The table also shows the amounts of subsistence allowance abroad for selected countries.
