Single permit for residence and work in Slovenia simplifies the work permit and residence procedure in the Republic of Slovenia. Foreigners who want to live and work in Slovenia from September 1, 2015, will no longer need two different permissions by creating a single permit for residence and work of foreigners. The process of obtaining a single permit for residence and work in Slovenia is very simplified.
A single document for the residence and work of foreigners will be issued at the administrative unit, the Employment office will give its decision on the issue of this document. The new rules are described in the new law on employment and self-employment and work of foreigners. The administration will begin to use the new rules for the single permit on September 1, 2015. Applications submitted in September will be considered already in accordance with the new law, permits issued earlier remain in force until the expiration. New rules on a single resolution will be submitted to the administrative units and the embassies and consulates of the Republic of Slovenia. Employment office of the Republic of Slovenia will issue agreed at the request of the administrative unit.
Employment office will give resolution in this cases:
- self-employment or applying for a job
- employing on the previous work position (or) getting a job with another employer or several
- if you have a Blue Card
- training of foreigners
- the provision of individual services to foreigners
- in operation, as a seasonal worker more than 90 days in a calendar year.
If a foreigner wants to obtain work permit for self-employment, the resolution from employment office will not be needed.
A foreigner after one year of continuous residence in Slovenia can do and self-employment. But this does not apply to persons who entered into the commercial register as independent professionals or some kind of activity.
