Food delivery in Slovenia as an option for restaurants during coronavirus
The National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ) has issued guidelines to support entrepreneurs who want to expand their services to food delivery as well.
The food establishment that decided to provide food delivery services as well, has to assess the risks within its internal regulations. Additionally, they also have to inform the Regional Office for Food, Veterinary and Plant Protection (UVHVVR). If necessary, they also have to adjust the HACCP guidelines.
Pay attention to the deadlines to register the new activity
If you make any adjustments to your business activity you have to inform the UVHVVR or Health Inspectorate within 15 days of the change. The deadline is 30 days for companies that primarily produce food products and plant-based animal feed.
If your company does not have the appropriate business activity registered, you also have to make sure to adjust your act of establishment. If you plan to engage a courier to distribute the food, you also have to add the business activity in the SKD classification under the number 53.200 – »Other postal and courier activities«.
Guidelines of the National Institute for Public Health
As the emphasis is on safe delivery, the NIJZ has also issued guidelines for food delivery and avoiding contaminating the products. The food establishments have to pay attention not to contaminate the products in storage or during transport. You can ensure this mostly by providing an environment for storage with less possibility to develop toxins.
The vehicles that your company will use for transport have to be properly maintained and cleaned. You will also have to use appropriate materials for cleaning and disinfection. Also, your establishment has to have a cleaning plan for every vehicle and all the equipment used in the transport. Additionally, special attention is also directed to the appropriate hygiene of the delivery crew. Your company would need to make sure that all food transporters are appropriately loaded and stored. You can only use those transporters for these specific purposes.
Also, you would need to make sure that different food products are separate from one another to prevent cross-contamination. When using the vehicles for other transport, you would need to clean the vehicles appropriately.
