A lot of enterpreneurs decides to open a transport company in Slovenia and obtain a license for international transport and decide to expand transport activities in Slovenia and other countries of the EU.
One of the most often registered activities of foreign entrepreneurs in Slovenia are transport activities and therefore the first question in addition to questions is about the process of a registration of the company in Slovenia and about conditions for providing transport services in Slovenia and EU.
Firstly, a company that wants provide transport activities must obtain a license for international transport. License for international transport is a document which proves that company has the right to perform transportation activities in international traffic.
The license for international transport is issued by the competent state institutions in Slovenia, in Slovenian case that is Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. According to the regulations of the European Community you can obtain a license for international transport for a period of 10 years, however, according to the Law on Road Transport you can obtain a license for 5 years.
In process of obtaining a license for international transport a company must submit the following documents:
- The certificate of a responsible person with competence for steering vehicles
- Proof of a financial capability of the company
- A certificate of a non criminal record for legal entity and natural person
The competent institution decides to issue license for international transport usually in 15 days from the receipt of complete documentation. Original copy of the license must be kept at the company headquarters and one copy of the license must also be in each vehicle. The license is not transferable.
